California Vegetable Specialties is part of the Darome Group of international companies. The Darbonne family: Cultivating excellence since 1887

Armand Darbonne launched the family business in 1887, in the town of Milly-la-Foret, about an hour south of Paris. Initially, the company specialized in growing medicinal and culinary herbs, and by the middle of the 20th century, had branched into production of strawberry and asparagus nursery plants.

In 1960, Armand's grandson Marc established the S.C. Darbonne Company, focusing primarily on production of the strawberry and asparagus nursery plants, as well as creating dehydrated culinary herbs. In 1985, Marc's sons Hubert and Luc formed the SODIAPE Group. Now known as the Darome Group, and headed by Luc Darbonne, the company is truly multinational. Firms within the Group are recognized as world leaders in the production and marketing of culinary herbs and endive.

Darome Group products and expertise, the fruits of a culture of excellence dating back to 1887, can now be found around the entire world. With more than 850 employees, and with annual sales of over 100 million euros, the Darome Group is continually innovating to develop and improve products for the world's varied, ever changing markets.
