We have produced endive in California for 30 years.  It all started back in 1978 when our founder, Rich Collins, gave Stanley Corriea, the owner of Stanley Produce Co. in San Francisco, a call.  Stanley invited Rich down for a visit to the San Francisco Produce Market.  It was during that meeting that Stanley not only volunteered to buy endive, but also to finance the first commercial production of endive in the US.  On Thanksgiving Day 1983, the first box was picked and shortly thereafter Stanley received the very first shipment of our endive produced in California.  We are proud to say that Stanley Produce is still a customer today!

California-endive has expanded outside of the San Francisco market and can now be found throughout the US.  In the retail world, you can find it at Whole Foods nation-wide, as well as most other grocery stores.  Look for it in the produce section next to other members of the chicory family such as radicchio, treviso and frisee.  If you are unsure whether or not you have endive available near you, we recommend getting in contact with your nearest grocer’s produce department.
